I found Nemo at a feed lot. January 24th at 8:54pm, Nemo's photo popped up on my Facebook feed and I bought him. He was scheduled for slaughter the next morning at 8am. I was told he is 2 years old, quarter horse type, and that he isn't halter broke. That is the extent of knowledge on Nemo.
I picked him up yesterday. He will be in quarantine with a fellow feed lot find for a month.
Hopefully, Nemo will be happy and healthy in the days to come. At the feedlot, he wouldn't take any grain or alfalfa pellets. Wouldn't let us touch him. But, he hopped right in the trailer where a big bag of fresh hay was waiting for him. He took the 3 1/2 hour journey from Nevada to California, in the crazy rain, wind, and snow, to his final grass pasture destination. With the help of his fellow feedlot companion, Nemo, very non-chalantly I might add, followed his friend into their new home for the next 30 days.
I will keep you posted with progress and photos. Stay tuned.
